The role

As a Team Member within NRW's Contract Management Support Service (CMSS) you will play an important role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date contract information across our systems and data repositories. Your work will help ensure the integrity of our contract records and support effective contract delivery across the organisation.

You’ll provide professional advice and support to contract managers and operational colleagues on low-risk requirements across a wide range of contract types, including purchase contracts, grants, partnerships, leases, and management agreements.

Your role will span the full contract management lifecycle—from helping to scope requirements and define performance measures, to supporting mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, supplier development, risk and change management, and planning for contract exit and transition. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that underpins the successful delivery of NRW’s services and partnerships.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

What you will do

  • Support Contract Managers on low risk contract management activities, advising on contract management process, governance and outcomes throughout the contract management life cycle.
  • Support Contract Managers on change management, working with other enabling service functions to ensure adherence with the agreed procedures and Managing our Money (NRW’s Financial Scheme of Delegation).
  • Request, collate, review and maintain critical contract information, using a range of NRW systems and tools; working closely with Corporate Services Departments, inclusive of but not limited to, Procurement, Business Finance, System Admin and the Business Support Service; this is with a view of improving system performance, functionality and the customer experience.
  • Hold accountability under Managing our Money (NRW’s Financial Scheme of Delegation), ensuring robust, compliant and value for money outcomes, with the ability to work autonomously and to make decisions without line manager input when needed                                         
  • Work with and the support the Senior Advisor - Governance and Compliance by undertaking periodic compliance checks for contract management processes that support both the CMSS and contract managers, ensuring the measures and actions are effective, proportionate and fit for purpose.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.

  1. Minimum CIPS Level 2 – Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations or Government Contract Management Capability Programme (CMCP) Foundation Level Accreditation. If not already held, the Foundation Level must be undertaken and passed within 2 month of commencing the role.
  2. Be aware of relevant legislation and contractual mechanisms in relation to contract management compliance, sustainability and social value.
  3. Excellent IT skills and experience of using an ERP / Finance or Contract Management System in the past 3 years.
  4. Awareness of the NAO good practice contract management framework 
  5. Excellent customer service skills with the drive to provide a first-class service to all our customers.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to effectively and professionally communicate with all our internal and external customers. 
  7. Experience of supporting or managing contracts in the public sector. 
  8. A basic understanding and awareness of the Contract Management Professional Standards and the technical areas of expertise.
